China Rise Lecture Notes: Southlake, January 16

Just yesterday, Debate Central was fortunate enough to be invited to guest lecture at the weekly practice of the Southlake area middle school public forum league! We had a great time discussing the February Public Forum topic, giving short practice speeches, and doing some group work. By request, our lecture notes are posted after the jump.

In considering the security aspect, I’m sure it can really flow both ways depending on supplemental arguments- while the Pro may be able to argue “regional police,” as you say, the Con would just say that China’s policing of East Asia hasn’t been beneficial and China’s rise would simply exacerbate the problem. And then the situational question would be to decide China’s potential merits as a hegemonic power…intriguing.

      Hi Sree,

You’re correct that much of this debate will center around winning a characterization of the nature of China. Smart aff and neg teams would do well to discuss this as part of their case.

I’d be happy to mail you a Word Copy. Look for it soon. Thanks!
